Rick, I enjoyed reading your content online. I see your in S.A. it's a great city to live in. Anyway, I hope you keep up the good work. I'll be coming back to read more of your content in regards to marketing. When it come to marketing any business it is important to develop skill set in marketing over the phone, internet, and copywriting. However, I think people have to understand it does take time to master your craft as a marketer.

Great advice Stacie, thanks! Yes, backlinks from high PR sites is a must. I'm going through a series of steps on my posts and have an arsenal to of tools to get to the top if I need to. I haven't had to do the high pr stuff yet but that's my next step because I accidently bookmarked it twice because of a slow computer. But probably creating a link wheel to 12 high pr sites is good if I need to. I'm also starting with Tribe Pro and doing some Twitter strategies to help my SEO. But yes, you can get to the top with good backlinks that are visited by millions. I've found that some pretty good research on what the top rank for my keyword is always helps streamline the process.

Not only do backlinks help with your sites authority, the authority of the inbound links have incredible impact on page rank too.

Major publication websites, .edu websites, and .org websites have more power than several inbound links because they are visited my millions of people daily.

Great post Rick,

One of the things that makes SEO so great is that it is possible to get ranked for really specific long tail keywords and build on it from there. I agree that it's essential to pick keywords so that first page ranking starts which builds authority.

Key Kevin, thanks for your comment. Yes, you're totally right but I'm not done with it yet. I'm monitoring all my keywords and know if I need to do more or hopefully nothing at all. There are so many that aren't learning these strategies because they think it's too hard. Heck, I was always terrified of doing it. Thought it would be just a waste of valuable time, because it always had been. But when you're in a mastermind like this one and learning what so many gurus never share it's amazing. Not easy but simple for those that have patience. But once you learn it you've learned it. We'll have a team that can dominate any business keyword out there for sure and be able to know how to provide value for our clients. Just takes time but you can get good results in a day or two as soon as you hit the publish. But you know what they say...If it was easy everybody would be doing it.

Hey Rick,

Another excellent article. I absolutely agree that getting a first page ranking in the search engines won't hurt your business one little bit! Actually what you want to shoot for is one of the Top Five listings. Anything below that and you're really just wasting your time.

While I do believe that getting on the first page of Google is totally awesome I always suggest to new folks entering into the industry that their are other ways that are much easier and faster to get traffic to their websites then going after the Holy Grail spots in Google. Learning the techniques of SEO is important yes, but spending too much time learning this technique is the cause of many defeats.

Social Media Marketing is without a doubt the best source for free targeted traffic to your website or blog. I love the fact that you suggested spending a certain amount of time on social media on a consistent basis. I'm just getting more involved in LinkedIn now and will add that to my daily activities with regards to social media.

Hi Rick. I think that your tip for time limits is good. It can get overwhelming otherwise. But more importantly using time can help you measure effectiveness so that you best know where to spend your time. I've been breaking things down into increments and alloting time and seeing what is most effective. Then I know where to direct my time. I also know that if some area is not producing for me that I either need to improve my skills in that area or drop the area if my skills are ok -Thanks for the post! Rob

This is a really important part of business. Social Media is as it say social, and therefore it is important that a big chunk of time is taken to actually socialisze. People think that if they don't get someone to buy something, or get someone to join their primary that they are not winning.

But actually, well made and researched relationships that are mutual and ultimately real can really change your life. I get referrals from people, recommend, I know people who can help me if my blog gets in a mess or if I need a certain product and countless other things.

How priceless is that!

Your tips are excellent ! Thanks :-) As usual, I love to learn new tactics and strategies to do better and better on social media.

Your advise on building relationship on social media is definitely a "must practice" habit for everyone. There are still lots of people use solely Facebook to advertise their business without building relationship. It appear to me they are more like an advertiser than a marketer/entrepreneur.

Your post is a must read article for people who want to do business online and also those who are doing the online business now.

Good advice Rick - and I especially like your suggestion about searching/connecting for 20 minutes. I think I lot of people soon begin to feel overwhelmed trying to implement a social media plan ... seriously, just between Twitter, Facebook and Linkedin you could spend all day 'reaching out.' It's so much more realistic to chunk this down into bite size pieces - investing time each day on a consistent basis. Thanks!
